Founder of Keeping Lions to Perform a Free Concert

28 September, 2008 Posted by: Liz Lemon
Keeping Lions founder and former lead guitarist, Christian Ross, will be performing a free concert on Friday, October 10 at Bill's Records in Dallas at 5 pm. As an added bonus, the Beatles original drummer Pete Best will also be performing.

In addition to being a former bandmate of Jason's, Christian designed Jason's MySpace. And as an fyi, a little bird tells me that Jason will be providing vocals on Christian's new CD.

Check out Christian's MySpace. Notice that you can get a free download of Backyard Sanctuary Live.

Thanks to Ashokie for the above pic of Christian with Flat Jason.
Thanks to Madi for bringing this to our attention.

I Think I Just Died a Little...

Jason read the Nicholas Sparks' book, "The Guardian"!! My favorite author and a really great book. No worries, Jason. Sparks always makes me cry. =)

I didn't think it was possible, but I just fell in love with him a little bit more....

**Swoon**

Jason Castro will miss the other Idols now that the tour's over, but he won't miss the schedule.

"I'm kind of tired of them telling me what to do all the time," he confessed (he's refreshingly honest).

He read lots of books on tour, most of which were given to him by fans. His latest read? "The Guardian," by notorious tear-jerking romantic Nicholas Sparks.

"I teared up a little," he admitted.

"Idol" Loser Lives, Eats ... Doesn't Sing
Posted Sep 16th 2008 6:38PM by TMZ Staff
Whatshisname with the dreads from "American Idol" was spotted eating
a burrito on Tuesday. He put up a good fight with the first half of the burrito,
but grew tired of it and just stopped caring when he got towards the end.

Can't a guy eat his Chipotle in peace?
...but thanks for the new pic!! LOL

unique, you say?

No so much Jason news, but note worthy...

David Archuleta blogged about the end of tour:

"It's also been so cool to see all the fans at different cities! And I'll miss seeing all the different shirts and signs for everyone haha. Especially the crazy stuff that the Dreadheads come up with. Oh my gosh they make some of the funniest, most unique things lol."

Oh, kinda like this?

Jason, you've made us laugh. You've made us cry. And you have made us miserable. We are sad that we'll no longer know where you are or what's going on from one day to the next, but we're happy that you're now free to pursue your dream. Keep dreaming big! We're behind you every step of the way.

Congratulations on your achievements up to this point and best wishes for continued success. You deserve this!

from an article on Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN StarTribune.com:

A half-dozen cool things in music...

Jason Castro, Target Center.
His covering Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" at the "American Idols Live"
concert was hip, modern, unexpected and so un-"Idol." It's
no wonder they didn't get him on that show.

from an article from Evansville, IN Courier Press:

Jason Castro had an apparent following among the young ladies in the audience who screamed excitedly. With his trademark laidback style, Castro sang well, especially on "Daydream."

Just When We Needed You Most

Posted by Colleen

This is a difficult time, time of uncertainty and some sadness. We have grown accustomed to our daily dose of the man we adore and know that our encounters may be fewer and farther between. As the tour winds down, we all have been looking for some good news. Today, I received some. Here is the flyer for a benefit at which Jason will be performing. I know I speak for all his Goth Girls when I say we couldn't be prouder of you, Jason.

watch out for that tree!

Posted by Laura Anne

from an article from Ft. Wayne, IN News-Sentinel:

A very laid-back Jason Castro said the tour has been “awesome.”

Castro, who was humming between interview questions, said opening night was his highlight of the tour. “I wasn’t satisfied with my performance, but there were people outside to see us.”

When asked if he acknowledged the crowd outside today at Memorial Coliseum, he said he ran into a tree because he was waving to the fans. He was no worse for wear, with only a few branches in his dread-locked hair.

Castro was looking forward to the end of the tour to “do what I want — less complicating.” He is headed to Los Angeles to cut a demo record. He hopes an album will be out by Christmas.

Not sure yet where this was recorded. If anyone knows, post it in comments.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

You have GOT to watch this. Preteen Archie fan reaction to David A losing American Idol. It is funnier than shit. Partly because this was me when Jason was kicked off...minus all of the rage-aholic screaming...and prepubescent-ness. Also, because one of the girls refers to David Cook as "that loser who doesn't shave." LOL. See Jason. Guys with beards are losers.

So anyway, now I know how ridiculous I looked. Thank God I didn't video and post it on You Tube. I do have my limits.

Fashion Crisis in Louisiana - Jason Speaks Out

Posted by Melinda

It appears Jason is using "lack of sleep" as the excuse for the fashion nightmare that was his athletic shorts and boat shoes in Louisiana.

Stephanie Netherton of shreveporttimes.com writes:

Jason Castro has been awake about five minutes before he enters the meet and greet area wearing mix-matched athletic shorts and a gray T-shirt. His signature dreads are frizzy and frayed from his short nap, but on the "American Idols Live!" tour, you have to sleep when you can.

"I'm not usually this bad, but we just left Texas and I had a lot of friends and family to see so I didn't get much sleep," Castro said in his typical laid-back tone.

Castro seems unprepared for the busy day ahead, but that's been his story from the beginning of his "Idol" journey. Before his audition, he'd only performed five times in churches and bars.

"It was an opportunity to get out of school," Castro said. "I took what I learned from performing in a band and transferred my music beliefs to singing.

Two words for you, Jason. Athletic shoes.

Well, it appears that he, at least, knew the look didn't work, but what worries me is that he told the reporter "he's not usually this bad." Oh, no! Does this mean he thinks his clothes look fabulous the rest of the time? It appears so. His blue striped shirt, which he now pairs with a plaid flannel shirt (oh, brother), is popping up in fan pictures all over the country. It appears there's a new "repeating shirt" on the loose. Would somebody please tell Jason that stripes and plaid flannel do not match.

Oh, well. At least it's entertaining. It's always fun to see what he's wearing from city to city. =)
